Be the best version of you!
Iron & Elegance was born out of the belief that you do not need to sacrifice elegance in order to have a strong body and mind.
At Iron & Elegance we understand the desire to put our best face forward, but we also understand the work and dedication that goes into doing so.
That is why we created a space that combines beauty and weights to show our clients that Iron & Elegance can coexist.
When you register for our programs you can feel confident knowing that you aren’t just getting a premade template to follow that you could have gotten off the internet. The owner and instructor holds a degree in psychology, from Athabasca University, and utilizes basic behavior modification techniques in her classes and programming in order to increase the clients likelihood of long term success with their health and fitness journey.
In addition to a degree in psychology, Colby Robbins also holds certification as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, Nutritionist and Tactical Training Specialist from the International Sports Sciences Association and is a certified yoga instructor through My Vinyasa School. Are you ready to start living your best life?
Multiple yoga classes offered throughout the week to suit your personal needs and schedule.
Every yoga class will be taught at a beginner level with the ability to take more advanced variations when you feel ready to.
Yoga Classes
Hatha- One of the most popular styles of yoga in which you move your body slowly and deliberately into different poses that challenge your strength and flexibility, while at the same time focusing on relaxation and mindfulness.
Vinyasa Flow- A more challenging variation of Hatha in which you move from one pose directly into the next in coordination with breathing. This class can be physically challenging but with all classes can be tailored to meet you where you are at on the mat.
Yin- A slow paced style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. Through longer periods in each pose we discover not only how to stretch and lengthen those rarely used tissues but also how to breathe through discomfort and sit with our thoughts.
Kids Yoga- Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school-age children (ages 6 to 12). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children.
All fitness classes will be beginner friendly with more advanced variations available.
Group Fitness Classes
Circuit Training- Classes are typically an interval-style, fast paced, shorter routine that does exactly as its name implies-training exercises that complete a circuit. Normally in this class setting, you complete one exercise for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, and then move on to the next exercise for another 30 seconds to a minute, usually with a brief break in the routine one you complete one full circuit. Circuits can emerge 5-6 different exercises or stations, and you normally repeat the circuit 3-5 times, depending on the time one full circuit takes. This class is ideal for you if you are looking for a calorie-burning, strength-training fast paced workout.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)- An exercise strategy that alternates short periods of intense exercise movements, followed by less intense, but still active "recovery" periods. The goal with a HIIT class is to reach a sustained target heart rate for exercise, allowing you to quickly burn fat in a brief amount of time. This class is ideal for someone looking to burn serious calories through intense cardio movements, and work up a sweat!
Bootcamp- Bootcamp classes are designed to push you outside of your regular limits through a hybrid combination of high intensity, cardio and strength-training movements. Expect to encounter anything from push-ups and burpees to bursts of sprints, sit-ups, pull-ups, barbell and weight lifting, as several examples. The variety of these moments keeps your body guessing and working, which has been shown to effectively maximize your progress and long-term development. As intimidating as a bootcamp class can sound, this class is ideal for someone who is up for a good challenge and seeking the deepest, most rewarding level of exercise
